Get started with English Paper Piecing!

English Paper Piecing (EPP) is a great way to use up your scraps and take some time for slow stitching.  It's portable and easy to do.

For the basics, you will need a few supplies:

*Piecing papers for a pattern like hexagons, honeycombs, or dresdens

*Acrylic template of paper patterns (optional)

*Fabric Scraps

*Needle and thread

*Small scissors

*Basting glue (optional)

*Wonder Clips, Sewtite Magnets, or binder clips (optional)

Steps:

Trim your fabrics to fit around the paper pieces with about 3/8ths of an inch seam allowance (SA).

Use a glue stick or thread and needle to baste the center of your shape onto the paper pattern to keep the fabric in place.

Work with your fingers and fold your fabric over the paper shape.  Baste the folded fabric around the edges with your glue or basting stitches.

Set aside and make more!

Once you have collected enough for a pattern, you can whipstitch the seams together, iron your shapes in place to appliqué onto a project, etc.  So many fun options to explore.
